ETWA Welcomes UNAMA concern over Afghan Electoral Process

December 24, 2017

The recent statement by UNAMA representative at the UN General Assembly indicates that despite the commitment of national unity government to holding election on the planned date, there are still many technical and political obstacles before upcoming election.
The election reform process has not achieved the desired outcomes. Particularly the voter registration which is the key element of electoral reform has not started yet. There is a lack of political (national) consensus regarding upcoming elections.
ETWA welcomes the concern raised by UNAMA at general assembly. We hope international community will continue its support for a democratic election in Afghanistan.
